Joe Satriani Confirms New Album
It seems that the Electric Wizard plans a return to his world of instrumental rock sometime soon.
Finally free of his sideproject Chickenfoot with Red Hot Chili Pepper's drummer Chad Smith and Van Halen vets Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, many were left wondering where Satch would go next. Would he embark on another long-overdue branch of the G3 tour (which had been an annual event for nearly a decade up until 2007) or another solo tour? Or would he catch up with bandmate Chad Smith and replace John Frusciante in the Peppers?
//Please note: This would be a stylistic disaster and I never believed it would happen, but I'm sure some people did. Terrible, terrible people.
//Also note: John Klinghoffer has somewhat-officially confirmed that he is John's replacement. I hope to God he is.
The answer seems to be none of the above, as it was recently announced he had instead decided to add his talent to the star-studded Experience Hendrix tour. Band of Gypsies bassist Billy Cox, fellow virtuoso Eric Johnson, slide guitar extraordinaire Robert Randolph and bluesman Kenny Wayne Shepherd will also be joining the Experience band for all of March in what is sure to be one of the greatest celebrations Jimi's music of all time. However, working with this tour de force of talent isn't all that Joe has up his sleeve.
A few months back, Joe (as well as Chad) joined the fastest growing social network in the world, Twitter. This was possibly due to the Chickenfoot marketing team advising it, as their account is almost exactly a month older than his. Joe usually uses his account for everything from professing his love for The Mars Volta to lamenting the Iraq war, but recently he dropped something truly interesting.
When asked about the audio track from a video promoting his line of VOX pedals of by Twitter user agmcleod, Joe replied somewhat candidly:
So there we have it, Joe is recording another album, and its already complete enough for him acknowledge its existence. Here's to its release, whenever that may be.
